Review: Kimchi Maki Grey

Hello there, lovelies~.  Just another long-awaited review to post.  This time for some wonderful lenses the ever-so awesome Lens Village was kind enough to sponsor me.  (Thanks!)

(Yep-- these pics are from before I recolored my hair.)

Enlargement: 9.5/10  As I remember, these clock in at about 15 mm in actual DIA, and they definitely look like it.

Colour/Design: 9.5/10  The design of these is gorgeous.  The petal-like spread of colour and lines, the opaque + light grey, and the colour(s) themselves.  The orange-brown next to the grey is so cool! Ahhhhh~.  And the pupil-hole is a rarely-seen star-shape, instead of the usual circle. o:

- EOS Dollyeye Grey vs. Kimchi Maki Grey -

- Kimchi Maki Yellow vs. Kimchi Maki Grey -

Comfort: 9.5/10  Like other Kimchi/i.Fairy/Vassen series I've tried, these lenses were rather comfy (although 'heavy'-feeling after a few hours, due to how thick the pigment is, likely).

Overall, I like these lenses exactly as much as I liked my Kimchi Maki Yellow. That is-- a lot. The colours are spectacularly light and opaque and the design is like no other series out there. I only wish there were more colours available besides the yellow and grey.

And here are the extra pics, as usual: One, Two, Three, Four, Five, Six, Seven, Eight, Nine and Ten.

  1. Come on, these aren't circles anymore. Way too opaque, way too cosplay-y-y-y-y-y... and I like 'em!!

    1. Ahahaha- fair enough. They're pretty much costume lenses. xD

  2. Those are so intense..I don't know how I feel about them. They are definitely one of a kind..and so made for cosplay! You wear them really well though :)

    1. Gracias, gracias~. And intense is the #1 way to describe these, definitely. Haha

  3. Am I wrong in thinking these series look like an opaque version of geo's cafe mimi series? Specifically the macchiato?

    1. Nope! That's a perfectly reasonable conclusion. :3 They do bear a resemblance to some of the Cafe Mimi lenses.

I actually like the Cafe Mimi series, but would never choose it for myself since it IS so translucent. D:

      Anyway, good eye for design!

    2. Same here. I really like them--if the macchiato were opaque, I'd snap it up in a minute. The brown is gorgeous in flash photos, but doesn't show up otherwise. -_-

  4. Okay these are crazy cool! I'm not sure i'd be brave enough to pull them off, though.
